It made 680 hp @ 5800 rpm and 652 lbft @ 4900 Would have probably gone over 700hp if we wanted to twist it a little higher. Right about 10.5 to 1.

If the block was cast after the early 70's, chances are that it will have clearance cast in. The earlier 427 blocks weren't cast for anything larger than a 3.76 stroke. Engine has scat stroker kit, rectangle port iron heads, edelbrock intake, comp cams hydraulic roller cam, chevrolet performance valve covers ...a 427 and a 395/402 have the same stroke. The 427 has more bore. A 454 has the same bore as the 427 but another 1/4" of stroke. There are stoker kits for the 396/402 that use 454 cranks. Makes around a 440 cid. as you already know, a 454 would be better, as it can easily be bored to a 470 cid, or stroked to 496 cid.

a 496 stroker uses a 4.25" stroke crank, USUALLY 6.385" connecting rods to clear the larger crank counter weights and a .060 over bore piston at 4.310" bore. you calculate displacement. bore x bore x stroke x number of cylinders x .7854= displacement. 4.31 x 4.31 x 4.25 x 8 x .7854=496.
