The first pistol was a Master Carry Pro in .45 ACP that I shot over 1,100 rounds with, without adding any lubrication, right out of the box. That includes taking a Gunsite 250 Laser Sight class.

Kimber's Master Carry Ultra is ideal for concealed carry with its light weight aluminum Round Heel Frame and Crimson Trace Master Series Lasergrips.You even said it at the end of the review… Function vs form. That Glock will run longer and better than the Kimber. No need to change the recoil spring after 800 rounds like Kimber recommends for its pistol. The Ultra Covert is built for concealed carry, featuring a 3-inch barrel set in a slide that barely protrudes from the end of the frame. The CDP went through a few minor changes prior to the Series II guns. The primary thing I think was they reduced the amount of the carry melt treatment a little. The basic difference between Series II and pre-series II (like yours) is the Series II guns have a Swartz firing pin safety. I am sure someone else would problably shoot the Pro better than the Ultra. It does not matter all that much really, they both shoot very, very, well. I carry them both. May 24, 2011 · The G30 and G36 are inexpensive, light, compact, simple, reliable, and accurate. The safe trigger is easy to master. The Kimber Ultra is dimensionally equal, but thinner and rounder. The trigger guard of the Kimber is higher, and allows more room for fingers, as well as a higher overall grip to minimise flip up. This coming from a guy that would shoot nothing but a 1911 for years, that is not an opinion, it is fact. Comparing a G30 to a Kimber Carry is like comparing a horse and wagon to a fancy chrome and blinged out pick up truck. One is utilitarian, functional and simple, the other is over the top, expensive, and at times temperamental.A series 70 frame will not activate the slide firing pin safety plunger. The "pro carry II" model (commander style) I believe has a 4.15 inch barrel (government model has 5 inch) and is the smallest 1911 model I would carry.
