I had the same problem with a Mossberg 930. I would love to tell you that I am a gun genius, disassembled, immediately located the problem, and repaired. Not the case. No idea what was causing the issue. My guess was trash in the trigger group and it just needed to be shot. Took it apart, cleaned it well. Put 100 rounds through it.

The gas system is better in the 1301. I think better than the Benelli M4. The a300 may also have a better gas system than the 940. I love the a300 personally and I'm a Mossberg guy. Reliability should be about the same between the 940 and a300. The pro over the a300 is the optics cut and some models come with an optic already.

Just participated in a local 3-Gun match yesterday, and once again had problems with my Mossberg 930 JM Pro. This time I had two instances of the fired shell failing to extract. The first time, the extractor pulled the brass head off the hull and left the hull in the chamber. I had to stick a rod down the barrel to push the hull out.
