Just wants a manual start for you to see important messages. It will also not work if the hood is up. Check to see if the hood sensor plunger or whatever is not cracked or bent.Some people on here just unplug the negative cable from the AUX battery. If you do this the warning light will always be on and ESS is deactivated. Others use a trickle charger to keep the AUX battery charged. The other option is a device called the Start Stop Eliminator for $100 it will add memory to the button that deactivates ESS.The service shifter warning is still a problem even with the aux battery disconnected.
