If enough people are unhappy change may happen. More than likely ASA takes more resources than the old version. Get a super computer and you can then max out the tether distance, or just run a dedicated server as the game is designed to be run and it will work for you. There are like 100 bugs and crashes right now.

Hoping there was something for tether distance on non dedicated. The purpose of this is to be able to transfer from ark to ark with my friends without having to rent servers. I know that everyone will have to transfer all at once, but im fine with that. But the tether distance is just dumb.

Speaking from a PC standpoint when you make the server you can increase the tether (on the server creation menu) to whatever your computer can handle. I would assume there is a similar feature for Xbox unless it literally can't handle more than the default. Its called Host boundary. It has a limit of 178 meters.
