5541 posts · Joined 2012. #1 · Nov 16, 2019. These are the correct carbs for the 1957 Dual Carburetor setup. Only the rear carburetor has a choke. The progressive linkage allows that only the rear carburetor is operational until opening a certain amount at which point the front carburetor begins opening, continuing until both are fully open.
Just like the diagram at the beginning of this post. This diagram below shows the "typical" 55/56 Ford Passenger Car setup with the Y block. Note that the part number 9725 is the same but the actual part itself is different in both the lower leg of the pivot and the attaching arm up top. I took my YTA24V48 carb apart to clean it, and silly me thought the repair manual would show how to reassemble the linkage. The manual doesn't even show the correct carb. The choke has connections on both sides of the carb and the manual only shows one. I have been fighting for days trying to figure out how this goes back together.
