The health penalty with corruption isn't that big of a deal but the stamina penalty is brutal. Even if you max out grit and agility and gear up for as much stamina as possible you barely have more than a noob character. I'm running full corruption/authority. Not much of a difference for me since my thralls do most of the fighting. Like you said, the quick stamina regen makes for easier moving around and avoiding hits.
