Burst is super handy (Rathian vambraces) Im not good at builds but i think critical eye/ burst build would be the best with maybe special boost as a backup. Im going for critical eye and burst. I'm a bit of a nut. I'm using Diablos Dual blades, Nero Diablos helm, rest of the thr Diablos set.
There isn't a huge difference between going full Str or half Str half Fai. The highest AR I could get with 109 points spent on Str/Dex/Fai was 623 AR with 55 Str 20 Dex 34 Fai. Safi DBs are only about 1% stronger than craftables, so using them is not necessary. You will have to use silverlos set for TCE, however. The main advantage of Safi DBs is being able to run 4p fatty 1p velk, with velk essence on weapons. To answer you directly, you are correct. TCE until Safi, switch over.
