As someone learning UWU as my first ultimate in a new static that has a GNB, RPR, and SGE, they all work just fine. BLM is basically unviable in 70 Ultimates, especially UWU.

Cooldown use. The Arcane Mage rotation in Dragonflight is all about periodically stacking cooldowns to deal heavy damage. Current mechanics in our toolkit have us always using Touch of the Magi, which has a 45-second cooldown, paired with Radiant Spark, which has a 30-second cooldown.

Sonic break is a gcd, and bow shock is a ogcd, so using a Sonic break before your gnashing fang combo wastes that 1 gcd time that you could effectively savefor after you have finished the gnashing fang combo, so it's basically used as a way to fit in as much dps as possible in the duration of no mercy.

Gunbreaker not only scratches that itch with lots of ogcds but also had a nice clean circular rotation. Other jobs have certain resources that aren't always available in certain burst windows but with gnb you're no mercy windows are pretty much identical every single time and always feel so incredibly satisfying to pull off.
