Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) depends do you plan on extending the mag or not.. afaik the only diffrence is that the 500 has the locking nut built into barrel and it screws into the mag tube, on the 590 it slides over and is secured with a nut so you can if you want exted the mag if its registered section 1.

The 20 gauge Nova is the only one that functioned flawlessy and it and came home in shooting condition. It went through about 2400 rounds in four days and got really hot repeatedly and still functioned.

Sure, the Remington 870 feels better and isn't as loose and noisy as the Mossberg 500 when cycling it, but if I was in the market for a pump shotgun it would be a Maverick 88 or Mossberg 500/590. I can't speak intelligently on the Benelli Nova except that I have not seen one come in for repair in the 5 years that I have been doing repair work.

I have both a Nova and a 500. The 500 is a very stout gun, the stock plastic grips do have a little wobble but the wood upgrade is solid.
