Members. 1. #1. Posted December 23, 2013. I have a 2000 mule 2510 that idles great but spits and sputters and generally doesnt have any power. I have changed the plugs, cleaned the carb, changed the fuel filter, blown out the hose going into the gas tank, and drained the gas twice which had some sediment in it but still cant get it to run right.Mule 550 stalls after a few minutes at idle. I have a 2000 Mule 550 with the FE290D engine with indicated 300 hours--actual is less, but the key switch was left ON which ran the battery down while running up the hobbs. After sitting several years in storage it wouldn't run at all without choke. A couple years ago I put a brand new fuel pump ...I have a 1998 2510 mule and it just started getting water in the oil. And in a big way. Filed the water reservoir and drove about two miles and the reservoir was abot half empty. Checked the dipstick and the oil was milky and way up the stick. Mules use a CVT. If you are saying that you cannot get the gear lever into a position on the dash, then one might assume that the selection cables between the gear lever and the transmission case are out of adjustment.
