Ranger 205dvs 225opti. A coworker and I were b.s.ing today and he was telling me he deleted the oil injection on his efi merc. I have an optimax and was just wondering if it were possible or even if it would work. Im not wanting to do this. I never heard of anyone deleting the injection system on an optimax.

Remove the oil pump, and plug off the hoses going to the engine, and the one from the oil tank. Plug off the hole where the pump was. Mix your fuel at 40:1 with the same API-TC oil you burn now. The rest of the system must stay in the hull, and the tank needs to remain about 1/2 full.
Most Mercury oil injection pumps have a removable screw to allow the pump to bleed after you have repaired the oil injection lines (or in this case tank). Bleed the line as described without running the engine as above in the preceeding reply. Connect a remote fuel tank with a 50:1 fuel il mix. Mark the level of the oil tank with a marker.
