May 11, 2021 · 465. Location. Orangevale, Ca. Oct 11, 2021. #5. Tikka T3x in 300 WM is the hardest rifle I have ever tried to shoot. Tiny forearm and light in weight makes for an extremely difficult combination. I consider myself a very experienced shooter but that rifle/caliber is tough to master.
The Tikka T3x CTR also features an aluminium trigger guard where the magazine release lever has been positioned to enable fast magazine change. The Christensen is a “nicer” rifle than the Kimber Hunter, IMO. I like metal trigger guards and the magazine on the Kimber doesn’t do anything for me. If the Kimber were a Montana, maybe a different story. Personally, I like 700 clones because of the aftermarket support. Let’s me tweak things a little, if need be.Dec 21, 2020 · Eastern MT. Between my Tikka t3x and my Bergara B-14, the Tikka is lighter and has a better stock trigger. For me, and some others, the cheek weld on Tikkas is way too low and requires a riser or comb of some sort. If you are a reloader, Tikka actions can allow you to load heavy for caliber bullets and eke out a touch more powder capacity. The Bergara stock was so much better then the plastic Tikka stock,but then I remembered I am tossing that away for the Bravo. The bolt on the Tikka was way better. Smoothness the throw all of it. also knowing that I could always sell the ctr mag or toss it all back in the plastic stock for a nice hunting gun was nice.Just buy a tikka t3x for $799. And you’ll have $500 already budgeted for the optics. Yikes! That price seems high. I bought a ss model last spring, from a nearby gun shop and paid less than 700.
Locally new Mesa was 1250 and I believe Tikka was 800 something. So I told myself get over it, and buy the Tikka. I found a used Mesa for $850. I have read they are heavier than they claim. But for 300 that might not be awful. I really like the narrower grip stock, and the feel of the Mesa.

Weighing in at 7.45 lbs on my scale, the Mesa weighs a little more than the advertised 7.3 lbs. I would have liked to see it in the 6 to 6.5 lb range. The other negative, in my opinion, is the radial muzzle brake.

May 15, 2020 · I have 3 Tikka's, 1 Christiansen Ridgeline, and sold my Savage Ultralight. I love my Ridgeline but, for the money, Tikka all the way. Each Tikka I have was easy to load for and I get 1/2 moa or better. The Ridgeline I can only get down to 3/4 moa for twice, almost 3 times, the price. And you'd be right. Both rifles come in .308, both have laminated stocks, iron sights and a pic rail, the Ruger's rail in front of the receiver, Scout style, and the Tikka's on top of the receiver. Big difference is that $900. price premium for the T3X Arctic!
