The same as weapon drops in a Nightfall. You can do either difficulty, but drops are 'slightly' higher for Master. However as of last season, Master Wellsprings were not recommended because the slight increase in drop percentage was far outweighed by the fact that you could do like 5 regular Wellsprings in the same amount of time.

Just today from the same Gambit match I had 2 drop. Wave Splitter and y1 hunter arms. It took me 3 weeks of grinding Master Wellspring to get the exotic warlock glaive to drop, the hunter one took about 2 hours, it's rng and that's all it is. Awful and weapon crafting blows. The rng to get the right patter to open the weapon to craft blows it all sucks takes the fun out of the game. I did get the exotic glaive on my warlock first. The initial Glaive quest is account wide. Once it's complete you can craft one of the three exotic glaives. The other two patterns are added to the Wellspring loot pool. Character being played doesn't seem to matter.
Do the harder one. Master is not required nor does it affect the drop rate. I ran around 30 normal wellspring in 2 days and got the other 2 to drop last weekend within those runs. You'll get them quicker is all. after you get your first one from the investigation board, the other two patterns come from wellspring.
