Tractor. John Deere 990 ran out of diesel fuel. Coasted off a bank and tried to restart. Cranked briefly then refilled with fuel. Started but had to bleed. Ran rough and discovered 1st cylinder closest to dash is not firing. All other cylinders are firing good. Removed and cleaned injector for that cylinder. No change.I too have a 990 tractor. And had a similar problem. After I raised the rear and rotated the tires, the left side was spinning freely. I pulled the left side axle housing and ended up replaced the pinion shaft. Disconnect the rod end of the cylinder from the drag-link (tractor engine off) and restart tractor. Turn the wheel left and right. See if the rod end moves back and forth the complete distance.
