VT is actually almost all of the VXUS holdings plus less than 50% of the VTI holdings. Not sure why they have left half of the US stock market on the table but they did. Performance wise VT should match VTI+VXUS, but if I'm buying a total fund, I have a hard time leaving 50% of stocks in the world's largest economy out of my holdings.20% VXUS seems like enough to get a diversification benefit.
