The L5p was a very small exhaust side configuration, small up pipes, small exhaust turbo vanes, etc. So I am guessing the ECM was seeing some very high EGT’s and cut power to keep from melting pistons. Like.The transmission will shift normally up to the gear you have selected in Manual. In other words, if in M5 it will shift normally up to 5th gear and not go into 6th. They tell us to never use 6th while towing heavy. Keep the RPMs between 1800 and 2400 and it will stay the coolest, with around 2200 being the best.LML to L5P isn't as big of an improvement in the technology of the motor, so it would have been a little more difficult to justify, in my opinion. L5P fuel filter failure. After being down for weeks I finally took off on another haul yesterday and almost made it 100 miles. Pulled over and shut the truck off. Came back out and all it would do is crank. No start. Tried a few things that didn’t work then dropped the new GM fuel filter for a look.

The truck engages starter and rolls once cuts out for 3 seconds and repeats. Two new batteries, treated fuel, also put a new starter relay in a few days ago to see if was part of the issue.

The issue has occurred half a dozen times and the truck only has 1,800 miles on it. It always happens in 3rd or 4th gear under light acceleration.
