I think heme onc offers a better lifestyle. But at the end of the day, you have to enjoy the subject matter to remain happy as an attending for decades.

Oncology isn’t a residency, it’s a fellowship. You have to match into and complete residency in IM first and then apply for fellowship through another match process just the same as you would for residency. So it’s a 6 year path- 3 years IM and 3 years heme/onc. It has become very competitive due to the relatively good lifestyle.
