Lionel 2400-series passenger car truck issue. I bought a used Lionel 2422 Chatham Pullman a while back and failed to notice a broken part on it. The small rectangular U-shaped metal part of the bottom frame assembly (just to the right of the coupler) that keeps the centering spring in place had been broken off.

A copy and paste, Many of the early cars were improperly assembled with the roof on backwards to mate with the interior metal inserts that held the roof to the body. This resulted in many of the interior bulkheads cracking due to the stress placed upon them.
