I have a 2009 GMC canyon slt with the I5 engine. Driving today, the AC off message came on the dash and I noticed the temp gauge isn't registering any temperature. Pulled into the nearest gas station and checked stuff out. Coolant is at good levels, engine is not over heating at all. To be honest engine is not hot at all.Temp gauge stopped working!! Help! As mike said, you just change them and reinstall the cluster. If you did it correctly everything will work. Temp gauge reads 160 and fan stays on. Picked up a 17 colorado WT 3.6 V6 earlier this year and over the weekend the temp gauge was not moving and kept reading 160 and the engine fan ran for about 5 mins after the engine shut off. I haven't ran codes yet, going to do that after work today, but there is no check engine light.

If the thermostat is not working at this particular rate, too fast or too slow to open, the ——— will show as the temperature reading. This is apparently something GM did with the Cobalt and several other vehicles of this era. I guess it could be this, but it will show the dashes from startup and never show a temp.

Got a call from dealership saying they ran a diagnostic test and couldn't find any problems. When l shut my truck off at dealership they had to jump start my truck.

At -40 °C (-40 °F), the sensor resistance is 336 kilo ohms . At 55 °C (140 °F), the sensor resistance is 2.488 kilo ohms . The sensor resistance should read between these two values.1.
