I saw a study done on which ETFs were the closest related to actual oil prices and USO was the top one. However, I was basing this mainly on how oil prices has moved since 2008 and when comparing USO and XOP, XOP just looks like the better option seeing that USO just sort of flat lines even as oil went way up.
