I bought a JRA M14 back in 2018 but it was defective. I would load a magazine, pull the charging handle and would fire the first round fine. But it failed to eject the spent case and pull a new loaded shell from the magazine. I bought my JRA at Classic Firearms and when I called the for an RMA they put me in touch with Bula Defense.

I bought the rifle from SARCO for $900.00; fully assembled and head spaced. This is a cast receiver made by James River and looks to be cleanly milled and fits the stock tightly.

I didn't want a basic Springfield and wanted a forged reciever, completely unaware that LRB was a thing at that time. I knew of Fulton, Springfield, Bula, Norinco, and James River.Re: JRA/BULA receiver Don't mess with a rifle that shoots. Build another with the forged receiver. Not all Rock-Ola receivers are stamped M14. A very small number were stamped PRM -1. I was informed this stood for PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF MARYLAND. Not being stamped M14 made them legal in Maryland as well as New Jersey. The receivers were forged by BULA Forge. It is my understanding they were made before James River Armory moved to Va.
