2005 Grand Caravan Stuck in Limp Home Mode. So the other day I was driving on the freeway and WHAMMO! My van drops from Drive gear into 3rd gear while driving about 70MPH on the freeway. I quickly pull over and eventually determine that I must be in limp-home mode. I drove local roads all the way home and did not dare drive above 35MPH.My 2002 300M went into limp mode in June. Many times on Chrysler products, one or both of the speed sensors screwed into the front of the transmission will fail, and cause the tcm to go to limp mode. Also make sure you have power to the tcm.
